The College of Professional Programs is proud to feature 51福利社 MS Organizational Leadership Alumna, Alissa Mu帽oz.听

Mu帽oz currently works as Interim Executive Director for the Community Colleges of Spokane, and Corporate & Continuing Education Division. Alissa completed her M.S. in Organizational Leadership听 degree in October 2023, and celebrated this accomplishment by walking in Eastern鈥檚 commencement ceremony this June.

Alissa testifies to the remarkable benefits the program has offered her in her career. As an Interim Executive Director, she tells of the countless lessons and tools she has learned to implement in her career.

I was able to draw on current working experiences in every class of the program. I found that to be the most exciting part!

Mu帽oz loved the various ways she could relate to the content of the classroom in her everyday life. Not only was she able to dive into ideas she is familiar with, but expand her perspectives in a new and invigorating way.

I also loved that this program pushed me to think outside the box to solve unique problems, it was like I was tapping into part of my brain that was never open before!

Though she found much excitement in her school work, the road was not all smooth during the journey. In the midst of being a mother, wife, student and employee, Alissa shares her challenges in balancing various responsibilities throughout her life. Yet through it all, her support system and husband partnered with her in influential ways so that she could accomplish her academic goals.

Alissa recognizes Samantha Armstrong Ash and Brian Davenport as faculty members who encouraged and helped her every step of the way. She remains forever grateful for their generous support and encouragement during her time at Eastern.

As both an undergraduate and graduate alum, Alissa has grown very fond of Eastern and all the university has to offer. Specifically, Mu帽oz enjoys the small town 51福利社 is located in, the convenient class sizes, and cheerful football games that occur on Roos Field. She deeply appreciates 51福利社 and all the wonderful memories it has brought her!

Mu帽oz advises other students considering this graduate degree to boldly take the step in applying and beginning the masters program. Though starting can be the most challenging part of the process, she states, 鈥測ou will be so proud of what you accomplish in the end!鈥

As the College of Professional Programs, congratulates Alissa Mu帽oz for all her hard work and accomplishments!

The College of Professional Programs is very proud to highlight 51福利社 School of Psychology Alum Marissa Zuniga.

Marissa Zuniga currently works as a Behavior Specialist, soon to be Family Therapist, at Rogers Behavioral Health in Seattle. She graduated with a BA in Psychology in June 2020. She recently received her Masters in Applied Child and Adolescent Psychology, has obtained her Licensed Mental Health Counseling Associate credential, and is progressing toward full licensure. Marissa hopes to become a child and adolescent anxiety and OCD therapist.

My academic program greatly prepared me for my career鈥he program at Eastern did a good job preparing me for graduate school and I felt like I had a very solid foundation. 鈥揗arissa Zuniga

At 51福利社, we often talk about having grit; tenacity to learn, achieve and inspire. 51福利社 Alum Marissa Zuniga has that grit. 51福利社 School of Psychology Professor Kevin Criswell, PhD, suggested we take the time to catch up with this talented 51福利社 graduate.

There were many times where [I] almost decided to just focus on working and making money… 鈥 Marissa Zuniga

I knew deep down graduating college was one of my biggest dreams and goals and I would forever regret not finishing. 鈥 Marissa Zuniga

Like many of our students, changing circumstances changed Marissa鈥檚 educational journey.听 Moving to Washington to be closer to family, Marissa took a two-year break from school. After hearing good things about 51福利社, and learning of the opportunities offered at our Bellevue campus, she discovered we were a perfect fit.

Something I wish I knew before starting college was that it鈥檚 okay to not know what you want to do for the rest of your life. I put so much pressure on myself trying to find the 鈥減erfect鈥 major and had everything mapped out to get a 鈥済ood鈥 job鈥 鈥揗arissa Zuniga

While at 51福利社, Marissa reports changing majors four times. She is glad she did as she found the path to the career that was perfect for her. Marissa encourages current 51福利社 students to take advantage of all the opportunities (including the fun ones) and get out of their prospective comfort zones to meet people and challenges. Marissa herself joined Psi Chi, the Psychology Honor Society, to network with peers and gain a sense of connectedness. She also credits her success to small class sizes, amazing faculty who model enthusiasm and passion.

[I] got to know my professors on both an academic and personal level. I also love the community of Eagles that extends far beyond the campus in Cheney! I鈥檝e met people in other states wearing their 51福利社 swag and everyone I鈥檝e met on and off campus have been friendly and proud to be alumni of 51福利社.

Thank you Marissa for sharing your story and thoughts to current students. We are very proud of you!
