Commencement to be Virtual Experience

Citing the circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, 51福利社 President Mary Cullinan announced today that June Commencement will be moving to an online format.

鈥淭his year, unfortunately, the global pandemic has forced us all to reset gatherings, celebrations, and holidays,鈥 says Cullinan. 鈥淲e can鈥檛 hold a traditional Commencement ceremony this spring.鈥

Cullinan says although 51福利社 can鈥檛 bring everyone together physically this year, the university is committed to celebrating its graduates. The president says plans are in the works for a virtual Commencement for the Class of 2020 semester and quarter program graduates.

The online celebration will be on Saturday, June 13, the day regular commencement was to be held. Cullinan says the university will share more information about the virtual ceremony in coming weeks.

President Cullinan also invited students who would have walked the stage this spring to participate in traditional Commencement ceremonies in spring 2021. She added that If health restrictions are lifted by then, Eastern may even explore holding a special in-person graduation ceremony in Fall 2020.
