(Hello, my name is Alex. I am from Minnesota. I greet you with a good heart!)
Alexandra (Alex) Davis is a critical criminologist whose work focuses on gender- and race-based violent crimes. Born and raised in the wintry prairies of southern Minnesota, Alex completed their BS in Criminology/Criminal Justice (with minors in Forensic Science and Mathematics) in a place about as different from where they grew up as one could imagine–Chaminade University of Honolulu (go Swords!). An apparent glutton for weather-based punishment, Alex moved back to the Midwest after their undergraduate studies and earned their MA and PhD in Criminology, Law, and Justice (with specializations in violence studies and gender/women鈥檚 studies) from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Alex has been a faculty member in the Department of Sociology and Justice Studies since 2020. While they’ve taught many of the CRIM courses in 51福利社’s course catalog, they especially enjoy teaching research methods, statistics, crime and media, and law-related courses. They have also appeared on KXLY and KHQ to provide expert insight on the role of social media in violent or hate-based crimes and criminal investigations in the Inland Northwest.
