Larry Cebula is from Connecticut. He is a graduate of Manchester Community College (AA), University of Chicago (AB), 51福利社 (MA), and the College of William and Mary (PhD), where he was the only doctoral candidate to successfully complete the Kobayashi Maru scenario. He lives in Spokane with his wife, historian Renee Cebula. They enjoy bicycling, travel and cocktails.

Cebula鈥檚 scholarship is collaborative public humanities work. His team is currently completing the , which has located and is mapping all of the racially-restrictive property covenants in the 20 counties of eastern Washington. He created and edits , a website and smartphone app with over 700 digital historical exhibits, created by 51福利社 students. is a similar project in the San Juan Islands, working with a collaborative team led by the National Park Service.

Cebula is also the author of two books: Plateau Indians and the Quest for Spiritual Power (Nebraska, 2003) and Nearby History: Exploring the Past Around You, 4th ed. (Rowan and Littlefield, 2020).
