We all know the trope of the harried college student surviving off of ramen and Red Bull. Some of us have been that college student. Now, we know that our best learning doesn鈥檛 happen on simply caffeine and carbs but requires a balanced diet of rest, protein, fiber, fat, and some caffeine and carbs. Though the cost of living continues to climb and college only becomes a more expensive endeavor, there is no need for students to live on Red Bull and ramen alone.
At 51福利社, students have an array of food resources available to them:
The 51福利社 Central Food Pantry is located in Tawanka 129E behind Einstein鈥檚 Bagels and is open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 11AM-4PM during the quarter. The pantry carries foods like beans, rice, pasta, canned goods, fresh fruits and vegetables, frozen proteins, dairy products, and more. We also stock hygiene and cleaning supplies such as shampoo, soap, toothpaste, menstrual hygiene products, laundry detergent, and cleaning wipes. The pantry is open to all students, staff, and faculty. There are no limits to how often you can use it or how much food you take. Please bring your Eagle ID and a grocery bag when you visit.
51福利社 Food Cabinets are available during building hours in 9 locations on the Cheney campus (including our most recent location in the American Indian Education Center) and two locations in Spokane. These cabinets are filled weekly by volunteers with snacks, hygiene products, and shelf-stable items like peanut butter, rice, and canned fruit.
Basic Food Assistance is a government program in Washington state that provides an Electronic Benefit Card to eligible individuals loaded with money monthly to help out with grocery bills.
