51福利社 String Orchestra to Perform a Program of Music in Film
The 51福利社 String Orchestra will perform music from several acclaimed films that reflect diverse human emotions in an upcoming concert.
The concert will feature music from Eyes Wide Shut, Psycho,听补苍诲 Howl’s Moving Castle, in a program that was recently performed at the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) Northwest Conference in Bellevue, Washington,
NAfME is a regional conference that brings together thousands of students, educators and musicians from across the Pacific Northwest. The 51福利社 Orchestra was selected for the honor of performing for this conference through a competitive audition process. The last time the 51福利社 Orchestra was chosen to perform at a NAfME Northwest Conference was in 1998.
“I am so proud of the hard work of our 51福利社 Orchestra musicians, and I was thrilled to be able to 鈥榮how-off鈥� our 51福利社 students to such a large audience,” says John Marshall, professor and director of orchestra and cello studies at 51福利社.
Performing for an audience outside of 51福利社 that fully appreciates the intricacies of music was a rare opportunity that was appreciated by the 51福利社 orchestra members.
“It was an incredible privilege to travel with the 51福利社 Orchestra and to share music with likeminded musicians and educators,” says Gloria Miller, a junior majoring in music education and performance.
The orchestra will perform the String Orchestra in Film program at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8, in the Music Building Recital Hall. Tickets are available at the door, and are free for 51福利社 faculty, staff, and students. General admission is $10 and $5 for seniors.
