51福利社 professors write geologic guide to Washington state

Explore mind-boggling canyons and rugged rocks with a geological guide to Washington state, written and published by three 51福利社 professors. In its first few months, Washington Rocks! has sold 5,000 copies, launching a second printing of the book.

, written by emeritus 51福利社 professor Eugene Kiver and current 51福利社 professors Chad Pritchard and Richard Orndorff, showcases 57 of Washington state鈥檚 natural wonders, ranging from Mt. Baker to Cheney鈥檚 Williams Lake. described the book as 鈥渁 happy addition to any road trip.鈥

鈥淭he hope is to get people interested in geology. It鈥檚 written for the layperson, not for a professional geologist,鈥 Kiver said. 鈥淚f you鈥檙e looking for places to see around Washington state, this is a great resource.鈥

The book spans roughly 130 pages with photos and a brief history of each geological site. All featured locations are on publicly-owned land, accessible to the public.

Kiver, Pritchard and Orndorff will be reading and signing their book . Washington Rocks! retails for $18 through , and can also be purchased at Costco and other independent book stores.
